a prayer to clothe yourself
After yesterday’s post, I remembered a prayer given to me several years ago by my friend Roger; it makes Colossians 3 “pray-able.” What made me think of it was the final section, which addresses what we are clothed with. Here’s the prayer:…

In Breaking the Power of Inferiority, Pastor Gregory Dickow makes the point that we are clothed in righteousness, quoting Isaiah 61:10:
I delight greatly in the LORD;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has clothed me with garments of salvation
and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

trading freedom for fear
I saw V for Vendetta Tuesday night; it’s about the overthrow of a totalitarian government. It’s also very much about the power of fear. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that oppressive governments trade in fear — Iraq under Saddam Hussein is a clear picture of that. V for Vendetta did a better job of making this clear than other films I’ve seen in this genre, in part because Evey, the main character, has to overcome her own fears to make a difference in the world around her….
